Developers have awarded a contract to Otis Elevator Co. to supply and install 90 escalators and 48 elevators for a mall in Al-Ardiya, Kuwait. The 1.6-million-square-foot mall is designed to support small industries and handcrafts by offering individual studios and workshops, with a showroom to display items for sale. Al-Waseela Real Estate Co. is developing the project.

Flagler Development Group has plans to build a mixed-use, 120-acre development in downtown Doral, part of Miami-Dade County in southern Florida. To be built in phases over a 10-year period, the project will include 180,000 square feet of retail space, 400,000 square feet of Class A office space, a three-acre park and a main boulevard with residential space.

According to The Columbus Dispatch , a 37-year-old man died as a result of injuries he sustained when the "outdoor elevator platform" on which he was working fell several stories in downtown Columbus, Ohio. The platform had been attached to a 15-story former bank building that was being converted into a hotel. The police and OSHA are investigating the incident, which occurred on September 11.
